When an AdBlue reset is the right fix
A reset is usually what's needed when:
- The tank ran low or empty and has now been refilled, but the warning stays on
- Contaminated or wrong fluid has been drained and replaced
- A failed part has been replaced and the ECU still holds the countdown
- An intermittent fault has been repaired but the codes remain stored
AdBlue warning light after refill
Many vehicles need a minimum amount of AdBlue added, or a drive cycle, before they recognise a refill. Others will not clear the warning without a diagnostic tool. If the level still reads empty after filling, the level sensor or tank module may have failed — we can test this while the vehicle is with us.
What our reset includes
- Full fault code read and live data check of the SCR system
- Clearing of stored codes and the inducement countdown
- Check that the system primes and doses correctly
- Road test to confirm the warning stays clear
Where we carry out resets
Most customers drive in to our workshop at Padley Farm, Drove Lane, Sleaford (NG34 8JQ). A mobile service is available within roughly 20 miles of Sleaford for an extra charge, and a non-refundable deposit is required for all mobile call-outs.
