What is an AdBlue delete?
An AdBlue delete (sometimes called AdBlue removal, SCR delete or SCR removal) is ECU programming that changes how the engine management treats the SCR/AdBlue system — disabling or altering its operation and the monitoring that triggers warnings, countdowns and no-start inducements.
It is a software change, not a repair. The underlying AdBlue or SCR components are not restored to correct operation.
Diagnosis, repair, reset or software — what's the difference?
These are four different jobs, and it matters which one your vehicle actually needs:
- AdBlue/SCR diagnosis — reading fault codes and live data to find out exactly what has failed (see SCR System Repair).
- Hardware repair — replacing or repairing the failed part, such as a NOx sensor, pump, heater, level sensor, injector or wiring (see AdBlue Repair).
- AdBlue reset / reinitialisation — clearing codes and countdowns and re-priming the system once the fault is fixed (see AdBlue Reset and AdBlue No-Start Reset).
- ECU software modification — changing how the ECU operates or monitors the SCR system. This is what an AdBlue delete is.
Road-going vehicle with an AdBlue fault? Start with repair
If your car or van is used on UK roads and you have an AdBlue warning, countdown or no-start, the right starting point is diagnosis and repair. We find the failed component, fix it and reset the system so the emissions-control system keeps working as designed.
Our AdBlue Repair, SCR System Repair, AdBlue Reset and AdBlue No-Start Reset pages explain how that works.
Important – Vehicle Use & Emissions Compliance
AdBlue/SCR systems form part of a vehicle's emissions-control system. Software modifications that disable or alter an emissions-control system may make a vehicle unsuitable or unlawful for use on public roads.
Our specialist AdBlue/SCR software services are therefore intended only for applications where the modification is lawful and appropriate, such as certain off-road, motorsport, development or export applications.
For vehicles used on UK public roads, we recommend diagnosis and repair of the underlying AdBlue/SCR fault so that the emissions-control system continues to operate correctly.
What we need before quoting
Please send us the following so we can provide a quote:
- Vehicle registration
- Make and model
- Year
- Engine
- ECU type, if known
- Current AdBlue/SCR fault or warning
Where the work is carried out
ECU programming is carried out at our workshop at Padley Farm, Drove Lane, Sleaford (NG34 8JQ), serving customers across Lincolnshire and the wider UK. Every vehicle is diagnosed first so we understand its current condition before any work is agreed.
